Finally got some new items listed!

It has been awhile since I have updated this blog. Thursday I spent all day making detachable ID bracelets. I figure that those of us that have to wear them might as well do it with style and just a little bling. So far I just have them listed on http://www.justforyoubylindasue.etsy.com/ but please keep checking on http://www.justforyoubylindasue.artfire.com/ for new listings there also. Next on my list is to get into a stash that I have had for sometime and actually create some new styles.

Bad things sure happen to good people. A friend I have known for 40+ years has been put through the wringer lately with surgeries on her husband and a son-in-law with cancer. Another friend is loosing her Mom sometime in the next 6 weeks. It makes it hard to be creative when these terrible things are happening to people you care about. The other side of the coin is that maybe it is a good time to dig in and keep your mind on creative things.

I have to work on promoting my shops. This is all new to me but I am going to do a lot of reading different forums and web sites to see what will work for me. If any of you have any ideas please feel free to contact me on post it on the forums and your blogs.

I will close for now and work on refining my business cards and create a poster of sorts to post on the various bulletin boards around town.

Posted new items today

I spent a good part of the day adding new items to www.justforyoubylindasue.etsy.com and to www.justforyoubylindasue.artfire.com. Had to retake some pictures because I first did them on a day that I was sick. Not the best time to do things right.

I am learning how to promote my shop. This whole thing of having a shop is a learning experience. The good news is that I am enjoying my forced retirement instead of setting around here with kidney failure and being sad. I am doing well with the dialysis and life is good.

Please visit my shops and that of my friend Gail at www.glentwistle.etsy.com. Even though we both make jewelry we have different design ideas. She also has 3 more shops that you will find links to from her Etsy shop.

Now begins the job of getting readers

I now have 2 shops for my jewelry and this blog as well as I Twitter. Then would follow that new people would find these sites and enjoy them as much as I. So the question is---how do I do that? There are many suggestions on the Etsy and Artfire sites and I need to look over all of them to see what needs to be done. Self promotion is not my strong suit but I need to get out of my comfort zone and see what I can do about it, soon.

I am thinking of ways to specialize my jewelry to set mine apart from all of the others. To that end I received 2 books today from Amazon.com. You Made It....Now Sell It!!! The Ultimate Guide To Selling Your "Handmade Jewelry" by Susie Bradford Edwards and Marketing and selling your handmade jewelry by Viki Lareau. I will be reading these from cover to cover while I am at dialysis for 5 hours at a time.

I will share tid bits from them later.

What a big day today

I actually got a lot done today. My Etsy shop http://www.justforyoubylindasue.etsy.com/ and my http://www.justforyoubylindasue.artfire.com/ now have products listed. So I can now say that I am in business. Since I am turning my hobby into a business I needed to get a handle on the supplies I had on hand so I could do my pricing. I have never done a spreadsheet but I tackled it today and I think I have it working okay. Now I have a big headache so will check on everything in the morning with a clear head. Please check out my shops.

It has been awhile since I was here!

Where does time go? Can someone call the time police? When I started this blog I thought I would at least every other day write something but you see how far I got with that.

A dear friend of mine lost her aunt a few days ago and she wrote in her blog about her. Please to to http://glentwistle.blogspot.com/ and read about this wonderful lady. I would have liked to know her. It is wonderful when you meet a new friend. Sometimes it is like you have known them for a long time and that is how it is like with Gail. My heart goes out to her and her family.

I need to work on adding items to http://www.justforyoubylindasue.etsy.com/ and to www.justforyoubylindasue.artfire.com real soon. Writing descriptions in and of itself is an art form. Wish I had paid more attention to that kind of thing in school.

The dish fairy did not come again. I do not know what I am going to do about her----she cuts into my computer time way to often to my way of thinking. Have a good day, everyone.

Just joined Facebook

Today I joined Facebook! Now I need to learn more about it. I look forward to networking with people with the same interests. A friend in Ca is going to see about putting my jewelry in a consignment shop next week. I am real excited about this new adventure.

Today in central Wa we are gitting a lot of snow. It is pretty to look at but not for me to drive in! Tomorrow I have to go to dialysis but at least the roads will be plowed.

My goal today is to "find" my work table. It has become the catch all over the holidays. I have to put away some of the Christmas charms and take stock of what I have to work with. Since I am starting out on day 1

Artfire and Etsy

I have signed up with Artfire.com and Etsy. Now the work begins! A good friend will help me get everything set up at the start of the new year. I will have elegant and casual creations so there will be something for everyone. The one thing I know is that beads will definitely be involved. I think I am now addicted to buying beads. The good news is that I am not alone!

I invite you check glentwistle on Twitter, Artfire.com (not set up just yet)and on Etsy. She has several stores listed. Something for everyone!

Have on great and safe New Years!

Linda Sue
